We're absolutely beginner-friendly. Here's how we think about it:
If you can do these basics, you're ready:Pass/bump the ball to a teammate (doesn't have to be perfect)
Understand we're aiming for 3 touches per side
Ready to rotate positions and learn as we go
What we're building: A mix of recreational and intermediate players who genuinely love helping each other improve. We balance teams so everyone gets solid rallies and no one person dominates. Beginners learn alongside players who actually enjoy teaching the game.
Bottom line: If you're excited to learn and play, you belong here. We handle the rest through smart team mixing.

To have a solid game, we need at least a total of 4 players, to allow a 2 v 2.
If we have under 4 players, we’ll still hold the event and can do any thing the group finds fun and valuable — like volleyball drills (e.g. digging, setting, bumping, peppering) or any other drill you find fun.
The max number of players is 12 — once we hit capacity, Spond will automatically place you on the waitlist. If a spot opens up, Spond will automatically notify the next person in line via the app. No need to follow up — the app handles it seamlessly.
**Note: Please only sign up if you're confident you can make it. I know life happens, but last-minute cancellations affect everyone's game. Spond will automatically send you a reminder to confirm your spot — please respond at least 48 hours before the event so we can open your spot to the waitlist if needed.

If you love the sport, then you’re the right person to join.
This group is beginner and intermediate-friendly — this means if you haven’t played the sport and are interested in learning OR have played the sport, but feel a bit rusty, this group is for you.
This group is also family-friendly, where we welcome players between the age of 15-50 to join. If players are 18 or under, they must have a guardian present at all times and have signed a guardian liability form too.
If you’re an advanced player, I highly recommend joining a volleyball league or camp to play against people at your level.
This group is more recreational — hanging out, playing for fun, with little dashes of the competitive spirit.

Yes, you can bring anyone.
If we have space for another player, they can join the game, as long as they fill out the liability form — which they can fill out on their phone. This form can be found in the “Featured” tab of our Facebook group. It takes about 2 minutes to complete.
If they want to know more information about group meet-ups or receive any updates or changes to our group, I highly recommend they join the Facebook group.

Our Facebook group is where we share updates, photos from sessions, and celebrate our growing community.
Spond is a separate platform where we coordinate everything.
If you’d like to join our Spond group, please message me and I can add you.

We're starting with sand courts in Walnut Creek because they're easier to book. We’re exploring other grass and indoor options in other spots in the East Bay — like Concord, Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg, and Clayton — as we grow.
We want to find a convenient spot that works for as many of the members as possible.
If you have any preferences, please .et us know!

The volleyball net, volleyballs, and ball pump are provided. There are some days that I’ll bring additional equipment, like a picnic blanket and canopy to keep us cool during our hangout.
I’d suggest to wear comfy athletic clothes and athletic shoes (avoid wearing running shoes to prevent ankle twists and sprains).
If you’d like to add your own items or contribute to the group — such as snacks, water or sport drinks, camping chairs, picnic blankets, your own volleyball or volleyball net — feel free to bring them along!
Some things to avoid bringing are alcohol, drugs, weapons, or any other items that would bring harm or danger to the group. We want all members to feel safe and welcomed when we play.
Anything outside this list, please DM me and I’ll let you know if it’s ok to bring. There may be items I haven’t thought about that would make our experience that much better.

This group is free — anyone can join in the fun.
As the group scales, we may introduce a small $5 event fee to keep things sustainable.
This community is non-profit, where funds go directly to creating a better experience for the group. This means purchasing high quality volleyballs and nets when they wear and tear. Being able to purchase chairs and canopies to keep us shaded during the summer. And purchasing snacks and beverages to keep us hydrated and replenished.
We welcome any donations that you feel like contributing to better our community — DM me if you’re interested.

We’ll cancel and reschedule — safety first, volleyball second. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates.
